SL/R230: Brand new AUX Battery draining fast
#26
I was advised awhile ago on this forum to always lock the car when not in use. It will assist in consumer battery drain as monitoring systems shut down. Has worked for me plus it may make it harder to steal the car.

If the vehicle is locked the alarm system is active and the drive-side SAM actively monitors inputs which can trigger an alarm. So if there is a material difference in current draw between locked and unlocked states -- and I don't believe there is -- then I would expect locked to draw more.
