Saying Goodbye

Came to say Goodbye to the R230 forum as I upgraded to a 2014 SL550 and man, what an upgrade it is! Like a whole new car. I really enjoyed my 2011 but couldn't be happier with the upgrade. I found a 14 with under 25k miles in immaculate condition with a perfect carfax history. If anyone is on the fence about whether to upgrade or not, GO FOR IT!!!! Thanks to everyone who answered my questions when I started the journey to buy my first one back in December. Great forum and a great group of people here.

Honestly, almost everything. It is a generational jump between the r230 and the r231 platforms. Over a 100 more horsepower/torque to start, twin-turbo v8 vs naturally aspirated. The chasis is much improved. My 11 had ABC and my 14 does not, but it is still a much better ride, both in comfort mode and sport mode. The interior is a HUGE upgrade. It is roomier inside, the seats are much more comfortable, and the fit and finish is a big step up in quality and luxury. The technology (stereo, command system, etc) is a nice leap forward as well. But to really experience it, just go drive one. But be careful, you'll be sorely tempted to upgrade like I was!

I looked at the 2014 when I bought mine and the single thing that turned me off was the word “turbo” , I’m sure that things have changed but I wanted a car that I could put quite a few miles on over an 8-10 year period. Naturally aspirated v-8 can get that done fo certain. I’m a great DIYer so the ABC system doesn’t scare me off and I actually thought it rode better than the 2014 but that may be due to tires and whatnot. Your new car is super nice though but I’m not jealous I’ll end up with some other great sports car when I retire after I drive this one into the ground.

2010 C300 4MATIC........ 2011 C63 AMG.............. 2015 CLS400 4MATIC.....
Man I just test drove one when I was down in Miami....a surprising cold start for a non AMG! Much more aggressive cars the r231's compared to the r230's...

Congrats on the car!
