Hi All

I had the centre light console down and noticed that the microphone seemed to just hand free somewhere inside but not sure where? It looked like the microphone was placed in the small grille where the temperature probe is as shown in the photo, is this correct? The phone calls sound clear when I talk, but has anyone found what is it he best position for it?

 

Slightly of topic, but when I took that unit out for repairing the temp sensor, I gathered that the ‘glass’ is not supposed to come off. The whole unit comes out and everything is accessible from behind. What do you think? (sorry, paid no attention to the mike)

I noticed that the glass front tabs were snapped off in mine, however it doesnt seem to affect how it holds in place.

 

R230s have 2 types of microphones (interior mirrors). One microphone placed next to the SOS switch (pic 1) and sometime around 2006 they changed to an array of 4 microphone placed in the mirror (pic 2). Since you found one loose it is likely that you have the first setup so you will have to place it in the SOS housing.
