Where exactly is the engine number supposed to be engraved on the 2005 SL 500?

On the edge of the bell housing, right side. It's sort of laser-dot-matrix printed so it can be hard to see from above.

If it;s the car's original engine, you can just get the VIN and plug it in here ot get the engine number:

I'm going with my buddy tomorrow. He got the Benz bug from me. I see I can get the number from SDS data card but like to make sure it's same.
