SL/R230: New Owner AC Question
However, after only driving it for the second time the A/C went out (light red on control and blinks). The high pressure and low pressure values are the same around 125 psi, and no, the manifold valves weren't open equalizing the pressure, I was using to independent gauges. In my past experience I would say that the AC compressor is shot, however, I noticed the compressor is still spinning and read that some cars come with a variable vain compressor. Is that the case with mine or is it some anomaly? I would think with the low pressure side being so "high" that the SAM would disengage it. I've already ordered a replacement compressor and dryer but it would be awesome to know there may be an alternate solution. I hate knowing the tear down process for replacing it.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
This indicates that the refrigerant pressure is too low. But since your gauge measures otherwise, then it would seem likely that either the refrigerant temperature and pressure sensor or the Driver-side SAM to which the sensor is wired is faulty. I would use a $300 Chinese-cloned Star Diagnosis kit to investigate or take the car to the aforementioned tech.
