LED Conversion Help
Hi everyone
Well I am excited to pick up my new to me 2007 SL55 AMG and I have already ordered SmartTop module and Rear Shelf Bag
One thing I did not like when test driving was how dim the lights were as my daily driver is 2014 Audi A8 and LED lights are great
I did a lot of searching on this forum, and most posts are a couple years old, and as technology changes daily, I was wondering if there is a LED kit for our cars
I see some bulbs that say Plug and Play, some have canbus adapters.
There are soooooo many people making LED bulbs that I am at a loss to which works with our cars without throwing codes.
I want to stay away from the old HID conversion kits as they have bulky adapters when I converted my Boxster.
I read one post which lists the bulbs we have in our cars and I believe there are LED equivalents for all of them
The one I read most people are changing to LED are the Fog lights, but what about the Headlights
Thanks for any info or advise you can give

Just don't. LED conversions are not ideal for the projectors. Go with a HID conversion if you have H7's. Contact a vendor who sells both. They will tell you, for your application, a HID kit is best.
I thought they all come with xenon headlights? Because mine do look lie ones, but never looked up the VIN to confirm and i have the base 2005 SL500 model. Does it depend where it was sold?

So I took a screen shot of options list I found for my car and Bi-Xenon Headlamps (614) were a $790 option
Don't understand how someone spends 128K$ for a car and wont spend an extra 790$ for headlights?
OK just checked further and maybe someone can shed some light (excuse the PUN) as another section say
High Intensity Discharge Headlights are standard equipment?
So I will search for difference between Bi-Xeon and HID Headlights and here is what I found
"Xenon headlights use four bulbs, while Bi-Xenon headlights only use two. 3. Xenon headlights switch between two sets of bulbs for high and low beams, while Bi-Xenon uses a mechanical system to set the beam of light."
So if I read correctly 2007 SL55 AMG does come with HID headlight, but there are 2 sets one for high and one for low beams!

You should have HID headlights just not Bi-Xenon headlights, check out the link for your year and standard equipment
