2005 R 230 SL350 (M112 3.7). Sold the 1966 W113 230SL recently
Window stoppers
I adjusted a front side window. Followed WIS, but forgot to do the final adjustment of the stoppers (which is no big deal, for the time being). So, you adjust the window until it aligns with the roof and fasten the two bolts holding the glass. WIS instructs to then cranck the window all the way up, and push up the two stoppers, through their ratcheting function, as far as they’ll go.
Clearly, from then on, the window will run up against the stoppers. However, I forgot to adjust the stoppers (you pull them down earlier in the process) and everything works just fine.
QUESTION: what function do the stoppers actually add to the cranking system?

Hmm took off door liner again, screwed stoppers down, adjusted window, pushed stoppers up as far as they’d go. Unfortunately, got it all wrong this time, window is too much forward now. Back to the drawing board it is.
Without the liner, the door doesn’t push the switch and the window swings in retracted. With the door closed, find the switch with your finger, push it, the window comes up, hold the switch and push up the two stoppers. Takes about 3 hands, patience and perseverance, but it can be done.
