Rope

If you have the courage to read the lowest tech post on this forum, proceed at your own risk. Time spent reading will be gone forever.

The Joy, not the devil, is in the Detail. If you don’t have one, you may never know, but this ‘thing’ should be attached your trunk floor. That tiny recess in the middle of the floor wasn’t meant for your finger but for this rope. Now you know why it’s always such a pain to get that panel out.

With the hook, the floor can be hung on the grip of the luggage divider, giving access -way too little- to what’s beneath.
In one of the lousy cars I came across, when looking to buy one, the grip was almost torn from the divider, it’s sort of riveted on, probably not very strong. And once the panel stands up, you can be certain it has already fallen under the edge near the juice tank, that it is supposed to lay on, not against. Clearly not the handiest of R230 assets, but my car is in the hands of a purist so...

The hook has a round recess, the perfect fit for a Velcro tab. The hook can then be stuck out of the way against the back wall liner. I first filled the recess with a compound, else the Velcro tab would stick on ribs only.

At the other end, the rope is glued into the plastic tab, that may still be hiding under your floor panel. The end of the rope is melted into a flat broad snout, preventing it from escaping through the hole it runs through, and glued on.

I’m glad I found the ‘thing’ lying under my spare tire, the day after I bought the car.

It's the small things that make a difference.
