SL/R230: 2007 SL550 dash lights

2007 SL550 dash lights
Hey Guys,
I have an issue. My dash lights (LED mileage etc) fade from bright to dim. Here's a short video https://www.dropbox.com/s/4jt66u3mk0..._5633.MOV?dl=0
It will go back to bright and then randomly dim. I checked the alternator and battery and they're both good and changing. The battery IS 5 years old - so I was thinking maybe that was the problem. Also, it does the same with headlights on or off. I have it on a CTEK charger when it's not being used.
Has anyone had this issue? I've read where some people will have permanently dim lights but not this.
