Need input on Lithia extended warranty for 09 SL550

Hello,

Recently, I purchased 09 SL550 with only 35K miles. During the sale I had an opportunity to purchase Lithia extended warranty (top plan) for 5 years/60K miles with the $200 deductible. The plan covers everything except consumables such as brake pads. Does anyone have any experience with this warranty product or any other ones? I have the right to cancel the plan if I wanted, or I could keep it. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance, Vadim

Is this from a Lithia Motors dealership?

Yes, I bought my SL in Lithia dealership. Do you know anything about that?

If it were me and I had more money than time I would opt for the warranty. I know a lot of owners swear they would not own their SL if it were not for the extended warranties.

As to how much the Lithia warranty will actually cover is anyone's guess but from what I can tell you, almost any repair will cost you a thousand dollars, typically 2-5k ina dealership so that seems worthwhile.

I have more time than money so I ended up replacing my failed strut this weekend, wasted about 4 hours doing so incorrectly, learning the best methods, etc. A warranty would guarantee peace of mind :-)

Thank you, the concern I have is this: when I called the warranty customer service and asked the questions about such as what parts will be authorized for repairs oem, oe or aftermarket, if they have a rate cap on labor, the rep told me that everything will be evaluated case by case and up to the adjuster to decide. I am concerned here because I would not like to fight later on to authorize the repairs. Any suggestions? Thank you all again, Vadim
