was changing motor mounts and did shortcut the alternator with a tool ?

I was changing motor mounts on a 2002 R230 SL500, in this operation I did manage to reach the + pole on the altornator with a spanner. I get big red STOP sign with alternator fail, and the most of el are down inside the car, the car starts and lights are ok. Did I manage to destroy the alternator in half of a second? Got the no DTC on my reader. Anyone got an idea what to do next.

If you changed the mounts with the engine running ( ), then you destroyed the voltage regulator, but not the alternator. Otherwise, you likely blew the 200-amp fuse located in the passenger footwell, and as a consequence the alternator is not charging your battery.

You was 100% right rod84 the 200 Amps fuse was blown, I did disconect the minus poles on both batterys, did not get a fuse like this today so I have to put it together again tomorrow, may be some problems with startup but I hope not.Thanks.
