SD card in 09 SL550 strange behavior
Hello all,
when I use SD card to listen music I noticed very strange behavior, maybe it is by design. If SD card has more than 8000 songs in 400 folders, the COMAND system does not display all of songs/folders. The system shows only a few of them. Does anyone have any information on this? Thank you

convert all the song to that format and you will see all
easy to find just pick one of the songs you can see, then on a computer lookup format
then convert all other songs to this format

It's normal. Depending on what version of Comand, there are limitations to how many files it can read per folder. For example, in our 09 S550, the Comand 3.0 can only read up to 250 songs in a folder, if I remember correctly. The Comand 2.5 in the SL can read more than that (not sure how many, but I don't have any folders of songs that are 300 or more). One really annoying issue I've noticed is that on both vehicles, the shuffle tracks in a folder does not work properly. It ends up shuffling between folders too versus on a Mercedes with Comand 4.0, 4.5, or 4.7, which the shuffle works properly. The older systems definitely did not have as much taken into account by the engineers (such as not reading the mp3 file data). Not sure if anyone else has found any solutions to any of these issues.

I forget what the limits are, but there are limits, which are songs, folders, etc.but I forget what they are for this car.
I did run into this issue a couple of years ago when I got my SL and this is the directory structure I used to solve it, as well as make it MUCH easier to find albums:
FWIW, I have a 32GB card in my 2009 (never tried a larger card despite having the software upgrade done to accommodate the 32GB card) since SDHC tops out at 32GB. I forget how many songs I have, but it's not more than a few thousand on this card.
