Replacing the headunit in a 2005 SL55. What is needed to keep amp/speakers?

Having some issues with the factory headunit in a 2005 SL55 and need to replace. I'm thinking about a newer Kenwood or Alpine double din unit as the replacement.

I'd like to retain the factory amp, speakers, and steering wheel controls if possible. I'm not looking to replace the speakers, amp, and wiring (as nice as that'd be).

Can someone please provide me with a list of what I'll need to order to complete this project? I'm pretty sure that there's an adapter that retains the factory amp/speakers and another adapter for the steering wheel controls for the MOST system.

1. Metra 95-8729B = Double din kit
2. Kenwood Excelon DDX8906S headunit
3. Avin MOST-MBE adapter
4.

Metra Axxess ASWC-1 is what you'll need to retain you steering wheel controls

I did the same swap you're contemplating, and it will definitely be worth it. Take a look over here:

Hi,
Did you get the Metra Excess ASWC-1 to work on your SL?

I know the ASWC-1 works nicely on my 2003 SL55 ... I would think the 2005-2006 R230 is supported as well.

Cheers,
Chris

Check out SpiralAudio. They have a harness which will allow you to plug into the bus and the fiber optic system (2005+) and maintain steering wheel controls. Also provides trigger wire power for backup cam. Part number:
