The Missing Oil Dip Stick

As a new owner of an 2004 Sl500, and a owner of a C300 Mercedes leased first in 2016 and now a 2020 GLE with 3 years of Maintenance Program I never open the Bonnet. (as a kid an Austin Healey nut} I always wanted to always use that word. Oil Dip Stick ? Am I that old that there was not a dipstick in 2004? Electronics took the place? But I do not know this. And if the Leased 2016 C300 and the 2020 GLE don't have a dipstick well that is not my problem if the Engineering/Electronic Genius at Mercedes are that sure of their systems then I really don't care. However my 2004 Sl500 I care a lot and when my Indy Mechanic says when I ask, " Is that electronic system good for checking" his response was, It is good until it isn't, go to ebay and buy a dipstick with measurements that come with instructions for the SL500 You don't leave it in but you can measure with confidence. I did that, Just sayin Oh and one thing the Cup Holder an addition of engineering overthinking failure blocks the volume control on the radio. Learning as I go. LOL

Yep, no dipstick for the oil in the R230.

When I owned a W202, it was the same thing. I had to buy a specified dipstick online to check, and the thing was HUGE. I'm talking 3 feet long or more. Kept it in my trunk.

There should be a transmission dipstick though.

No transmission dip stick and no opportunity to add one. A sealed system filled from the bottom drain plug.

There is an engine oil dipstick available, but it is for measuring only - you can not leave it in.

Yes available on Ebay it comes with a chart of many models and you have to use the low and high measurements on the chart for your model. I marked mine with a marker and covered it with super glue.

Is there a US source for this dipstick/tool? The UK Ebay link says it cannot be shipped to the USA. Thanks!
