Just like many people here with this problem, my flaps plastic hinges broke off and I worried that it will be lost while driving. I also have the leathers came unglued on some spots.
So I decided to take the entire unit off to repair. Turned out it wasn't that hard.
1. Take off the panel (with the flaps): There are 4 screws near the door-end which are easy. There is a 6mm under the flap, you need to open the flap and use a 6mm socket wrench to open it. Then there is a torx screw on the back that you have to open the roof halfway to access it. I do this by open the roof entirely, then use the button on the trunk to raise it up. There are 2 plastic pins that when you pull up the panel, it will come out.
2. Once you take it off, repair is very easy. For the flap, I just super-glued 3 elastic bands to the back of the flap. I use elastic bands so the flap can spring back down when the roof is open. It also serve to hold the flap in place.
While it's out, I fixed the leather edge as well by glue it to the plastic body.
Here is the close-up
As you can see, when the flap is opened, the elastic band would pull it down with enough force to not interfere with the metal arm that would push it up when the roof is closed.
