Red LEDs
Hi all, I'm a new owner of a 2005 SL 600. Recently, and at random, one or both of the red LED's above the speedometer and tach start flashing and chirping. I have searched the voluminous owners manuals and can't find any mention of these LED's. Can someone tell me their purpose and how to stop their annoying flashing and chirping?

2005 R 230 SL350 (M112 3.7). Sold the 1966 W113 230SL recently
If the pattern is seemingly random and various other gremlins start annoying your mobile life, you may be heading towards a new EIS (electronic ignition switch).

You are exactly correct! I had no idea what it was but it is exactly that - a built in radar detector! whoever did this job was great....the LEDs look like they were factory installed!

I have the same thing in my SL65, do you have an amber light above the tac? Like this.

Amber Leds

Sl 600
Here is picture of mine at start up. Lights blink and chirp. There is one control under the dash that turns it off and has some adjustment but I have no other info.

I've got the adjustment knob under my dash too.
Check in the compartment the navigation dvd player is in and see if you have a little k40 radar module in there.
