Interior temperature sensors

I recently replaced the thermistor in the overhead temperature sensor (in the dome light). Fixed it for $1.75 for a 10K NTC thermistor. Now my car keeps the right internal temperature - I think.

My question is about the other two air intakes either side of the rotary fan controls.

Are these additional air intakes?
  • Poking a thin strong blade of grass into the vent on the overhead console, I can feel the fan spinning.
  • When I do this test on the two lower vents, I don't seem to be able to feel the same result, but it could be because they are behind a piece of felt and the grass isn't getting that far.
  • Are there fans there too, and are there thermistors in front of the fans?

I'd like to check them for functionality but don't want to remove the console cover unnecessarily. I'd like to know what they are first.

With thanks. Also posted on the other forum.

Tom

Your assumptions are correct. Which the temp sensor is active depends on the status of the roof.
