Coilovers

Hi all
I have BC Racing coilovers fitted on my car which are fully threaded. The problem i seem to be having is adjusting them. What i have read is loosen the bottom collar then the threaded leg should turn up or down by hand. This is not happening the leg will not turn. The coilovers are nearly new so it's not a case of them being rusted.
Thanks.

Hi,
I am no expert at all but at this site there is some good info under tech Info section. I hope this may help you or perhaps someone else may chime in.
Best of luck....

You will need to jack up the car and remove the wheel. There must be no weight on the suspension. Once the lower lock nut is released you should be able to turn the upper part to raise or lower. You may have to use you C spanner on the upper rings to turn it. The whole spring and shock will turn on the pillowball top mount and screw in or out on the threads on the shock body. That's how they're supposed to work.

I've had another look into it & keeping the 2 upper rings tight together turn the top ring which will then turn the leg. It looks though it would be easier & quicker to drop the bottom arm then spin the bottom shock mount up or down. The 2 upper rings are pretty much in the bottom of the tunnel.

It might be on the front but the rear might not turn in the lower arm. It's worth a try though.

The bottom mount on the rear won't turn without the arm being dropped down out of the way. Still it's got to be quicker than trying to get any turn on the spanner in the bottom of the tunnel.

The videos on YouTube never show the difficult or awkward bits that take ages to do. Not one I've watched has shown anyone adjusting them.
