Coilover conversion by using 231 OEM coilover?

Been asked this question by my friend. His ride is SL500 from 2011, the final year of R230. As people have been saying, his ABC system should be the improved version and many issues had been resolved by Mercedes. Nerveless he experienced quite a few failures recently and decided to go for coilover.

We saw that friends here have been doing conversions by opting for (R230) SL350 suspension or Strutmasters. Just before we are about to proceed with one of these two options, we found out that R231’s 550 comes with coilover as standard.

So we are wondering if OEM 231 coilover fits 230? In theory, as the weight of R231 550 is closer to 230 SL500 than 350 is and as the car (hence the part) is newer, the suspension from 231 should perform better than that of 230 SL350.

Suspension of 65 Black series is of course more preferred. But from this thread “"FS: Original Coilover Suspension from SL65 BlackSeries" it seems that the geometry doesn’t match at all.

Any input?
