Let us know if you have any questions. There is a battery in the trunk that's for all the electric doodads which are numerous. There's another battery under the hood that is only for starting the engine. There is a proper sequence for connecting and / or disconnecting those batteries. Which should be adhered to for sure!! The 550 engine is easy to replace spark plugs there are only Eight of them!! But if you do, ONLY use the ones the owners book says to use, and No Substitutes! Use premium fuel not the low grade. There's a lot more to know. In time...

Congratulations! I just purchased a 2005 SL500 in Black/Anthracite for the same reason! Such a dream to drive and I am looking forward to taking advantage of convertible season!!
Took it on a 120 mile day trip and I was astounded. The power. The comfort. I only saw two cars that I would consider cooler than mine. Only downside was that it was a little cool to have the top down the whole way. I can't wait to take this out for a weekend trip.

Day trip, LoL. I got mine to become a day tripper also but now I love the car eight days a week. No sunday driver here! It took me so-o long, to find out... but I found out, The R230 second to none. I never leave either of my R230's (SL550 or the SL600) out in the rain, or else I'd be fixing a hole where the rain gets in. Okay, I've gotta stop my mind from wandering. I've got to admit, my engine was incredibly carboned up when I got the S550, from never being driven fast enough but I've blown out all the carbon and it's getting better all the time. Since it's been mine... the car runs like new now!!!
600? I can't imagine what I'd do with all that extra power. As soon as it warms up I plan on using it for trips to Hy-Vee just down the road. I know I shouldn't but I feel better than everyone else when I take it out. Except for that guy in the "cheap" McLaren maybe.

I also just got a brand new (at least to me) 2003 SL500 Designo Launch Edition. My 1st Mercedes and 1st Convertible.
I'm just getting used to the way it drives. It handles way differently than my 2014 328i.
Even at 18 years old, She still good looking and she handles great.
Only driven her 150 miles thus far... LOVING IT!!!
