Clock on Dash-2004 SL500

Purchased my 2004 SL500 in October, 2019
I have a all of the supplied manuals in a nice leather holder. I can
find most control changes in the manual but not this clock.

Very minor issue. Just a nuisance.

How do you set the time on the clock in the dash?

Side note- I am using the Turtle Wax, Hybrid Ceramic Wet Wax after my washes.
I think I am noticing a improve shine.

Thanks,
Bill

On the dash in the middle? Through the settings option on the radio / COMMAND screen.

I take it you mean the clock on centre of dash board at windscreen?
Use you Comand to change, I recall Service button, then Time / Date I think.

2005 R 230 SL350 (M112 3.7). Sold the 1966 W113 230SL recently
The clock algorithm translating the satellite 'time signal' has a built in fault that (in my country) results in a 5 minute time fault. Compare it to something like a millenium bug. You can only set the hours (and perhaps steps of 30 minutes, I forgot about that one). If you want to free the clock from the faulty algorithm and adjust it by hand it needs to be digitally disconnected from the Comand unit. Others may chime in on that. I just live with the error.

Scroll through your menus in your instrument cluster using the steering wheel buttons, and find "settings",
then use the steering wheel buttons to navigate through the different options inside the "settings" menu.
The +/- buttons do different functions then the arrow up and down buttons.
Find the time and date setting in there and using the steering wheel buttons change the time.
It should tell you whether to use the arrows or the +/- to change what you need to change.

Is it not easier just to use the Comand screen mate rather than navigate with the steering wheel buttons?

I was able to change the time via the COMMAND system (as per video instructions from Tokyoite).
However after I turn off the engine and start it at a later time (or next) day, the time is incorrect.
It appears the clock resumes running from the time the car was turned off.
ex. 9:30pm parked car overnight. Next morning, @ 8:30am went to car turned on engine - clock displays 9:31pm.

I also have the error B1116 LIN communication between components A1(Instrument Cluster) and A70(Electronic Clock) is faulty.
Plus the digital display is dim (not bright).

Can anyone point me to a DYI fix?

Thanks In Advance.

My 2008 SL550 has a Pioneer aftermarket radio, the dash clock is an hour and a half off. I'm thinking of disconnecting the battery at 11:45 and re-connecting right at 12 Noon.

That works, but if you have a friend with star, you should be able to change your programming so that you can set the time (in the dash clock) through the intrument cluster (using steering wheel buttons).

You need Star with Developer mode

The following will enable you to set the hours/minutes in the menu where you normally can only shift between 12H/24H formats

Go to:
"Control units"
"Information and communication"
"ICM - Instument cluster with maintenance interval display"
"Diagnosis to plant specifications"
"Control unit adaptations"
"Control unit adaptations (variant coding)"
"Variantenkodierung Werkseinstellungen"
Scroll down and set "Uhrenverstellung" to "enable"

Fixed it by replacing the Clock in the center dash.
I purchased a used clock from ebay. The removal of the clock case was simple. Clock itself is held on with 2 screws.

Clock - '03 SL55 AMG

Thanks all. Good ideas here.
Question:
I notice several posts here refer to using the steering wheel menus to access the clock. I can't find the clock via my steering wheel...….what am I missing? I can't seem to get the COMAND to adjust the dash clock.

setting the time using the steering controls is normally ONLY available after doing the adaptation I detailed in post 11

New rear battery solved it and the clock now syncs to COMAND. I was getting persistent "Consumers off line" messages so I'm guessing that was messing with the clock/sync as we know, that battery can cause all kinds of issues........this is apparently one more.
