SL/R230: rear speakers?

rear speakers?
As I'm trying to understand my recent acquisition and decide what to do I've found a few questions that I'm hoping someone here might help me with-
1. my '06 SL500 had something installed years ago to give bluetooth phone only capabilities, something a dealer did for a prior owner (was close to $1,000!!), Tooki is the name, and it amazingly worked with my iPhone X; I recently upgraded phone and it won't connect, I don't understand as I don't think bluetooth has changed has it? The other bummer is that the 12 doesn't fit in the cupholder like the X!
2. there is a balance/fader control in the audio settings but I can only control balance, fader keys do nothing, are there typically no speakers in the rear. I just assumed that grill like plastic piece at the top of the rear area had some tweeters or something in there.

I believe the rear speakers on your 2006 are 2 small speakers that are a rear-mono "fill" channel (both wired in parrellel from one amp output) ... at least that is how it is on a 2003 r230. There is no "fader" . that I am aware of.
