2007 sl550 torque converter access plug

I noticed the the rubber oval plug is missing and I can see into the case. The reason I’m under the car is because I got codes 2767 and 2768 turbine speed sensor codes. I’m gonna change the oil remove the valve body and conductor plate and send the plate of to have the sensors replaced. My question is since this plug is missing I’m wondering when I replace it what do I have to do as in fluids in that area or does any go in that space? Here’s a picture of the area I’m speaking of.

There is a plug in the torque converter body. when the converter is rotated the plug will appear in the hole you describe. That allows you to drain the converter of trans fluid. The large missing plug is a dust cover.
