SL/R230: Trunk interior is missing something , help
Hi everyone, there is a piece missing inside of my trunk that is causing surface rust...
Can someone tell me what is missing? Much appreciated.
Note : This is an sl 500 2003
Thank you

There doesn't look like anything missing that I can see? The surface rust could just be years of moisture that the trunks tend to get, especially if not being driven with heating on and you live in a temperate climate. There is a central plastic drain plug under the foam square in your trunk and I STONGLY ADVISE TO GET RID OF IT !! if you then get any leaks in the trunk it will drain out. You will not get water ingress from underneath as there is a heat shield there.

Hi,
So this HOLE is normal? It goes through the bottom .... No cover ..?
Thank you
There is also normally a rubber grommet in the hole, which many people remove to help drain water out of the trunk. Looks like your rubber seal on the bottom of the rear window was, or is, leaking. This causes water to pool in the bottom of the trunk. PSE pump is very low, so tends to have trouble first.
