Long story short, downloaded and burned ISO CD (W220 589 05 22 00), trying to upgrade US MY06 SL55. Engine running, insert CD, display reads Autonomous yadda, yadda, yadda for approximately 5 minutes then the Comand screen flickers, similar to powering off, then a FFX Warning message pops up. Can't figure out how to select Yes/No or even accept highlighted option (No), nor am I certain I want to. After approximately 1 minute Command powers off, I must have pushed every single control button trying to get it to do something, lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated, TIA.

Background -

Previous owner had installed aftermarket (Alpine) head unit, amp, F/R cameras, proximity sensor & speaker. I had my mechanic rip out all the after market crap and instal the OEM amp, GW, CDC, GPS/Sat radio antenna and HU. Am unable to control any audio functions from the steering wheel. Also, I am unable to get my newly installed Continental TPMS (VDO Redi-Sensors, pn: SE10003A) to function as well. I had a tire shop "unlock" them as the shop who installed the new tires didn't have the correct TPMS scan tool but display still reads "Tire Pressure Monitor Inoperative, No Wheel Sensor". According to Continental/VDO these are the correct sensors (315 Mhz, same as previous sensors installed) for my vehicle, Option code 470, Low Line only. STAR indicates there is a short on Interior CAN B. Command powers off after approximately 30 minutes, I receive a "start engine or Comand will shut off in 3 minutes" msg regardless if the engine is running (driving) or sitting in the drive (not running) key in POS 1 or 2. NAV doesn't function either, always displays Uploading Software or sometimes No DVD present, NAVI OEM DVD or E-Bay DVD (W211 589 15 22 00) will not complete the upload process before Comand powers off.

 

I've done that update but don't remember having that message. Another option would be to do a reset under the SERV/system menu.
I assume you tired the left arrow, then OK.

 

Chad, just a bit of clarification, after I receive the FFx the Comand powers off automatically after about 1 minute. I can then power it back on and eject the cd and the Comand operates normally, at least I have radio and CDC functionality. I have previously performed a reset using the SERV menu trying to resolve the inability to access the year when setting the current time and erase all the stuck presets (87.9) It seems once I set the country and time, if I exit the SERV menu and go back in to check, the new settings are retained but after I cycle power it runs home to mommy (country reverts to Germany), lol. Yes, I tried all the direction arrows trying to move the highlighted selection and also tried just pressing "OK".

 

My command also reverts to Germany's time zone. It seems to work fine even with this incorrect setting.
