PSE system

I am having a minor periodic problem with the trunk soft close. I have read the various posts about sealing the system and replacing the latch. I am not prepared to proceed with any of those fixes because this happens infrequently and I can fix the problem by removing and replaceing the 20 amp fuse. Can anyone give me a short version of how this PSE system works as it relates to my issue. After I reset the fuse the soft close works for weeks then at some point it stops working. I would think that a small vacuum (pressure?) leak would be overcome by the PSE pump. The system works after I reset it so the pump must be working. Why after a period of time would the system not work?

I fixed the problem about six months ago by removing the latch mechanism and epoxying all the holes which have small ball bearing in them and any cracks. I had a crack on the side of the latch mechanism. This is a simple job and a simple fix. I followed the posts on this subject and they were right on. The trunk closes perfectly now.
