SL/R230: R230 EARLY Command System Data Issue
Am having a weird problem with my Command System NOT keeping the date and time inputs - which also updates the dash clock... which I really use.
I am the original owner of the car (bought in Aug 03) ..Diamond Silver/ Grey... Now has 9700 miles and am both **** and meticulous in maintenance and upgrades.. Quaife LSD, six pot AMG front and four pot rear brakes with AMG slotted / sintered disc, 19" Black Series wheels, SL55 rear shocks, change ALL fluids yearly .. never "repair" IF replaceable .. including both batteries.
Am not keen on audio upgrades - as my hearing went to Naval Air !..
My ole 03 SL !
Just need some help/info on keeping inserted data in my old antiquated Command System longer than 3-5 minutes before losing it ......MAY DAY !
Thanks ,
Ron

Having had and enjoyed the car for 18 years without this new issue .. I suspect the issue has something to do with the Command System memory (where ever it is located) ??? Our long time mechanic thinks there is a recent MB service bulletin addressing this problem .. However we cannot locate it .
When I insert the correct current date and time , then drive the car for about 3-5 minutes, the entire system loses the entire input and goes "random" ..including the independent dash clocks time .... STRANGE !!!!!
Thanks for trying ..
Ron

Then the clock suddenly became dead-on exact for a few months. But it seems my own car-time recently went a few minutes off again. Something seems to be going on 'up there' or the algorithm in the Comand has reached a new calendar glitch.

also, there are settings that make the command independent from the cluster in terms of time-syncro
Xentry is required
Guess I will keep on the trail to ID and rectify the problem ..and share ..
