Is any ABC pump noise normal?
I just picked up a 2012 with 35k miles. The damper is mounted on the pump and starting making a lot of noise on my drive home. It was like that for about 500 miles. I never had any warning lights and the fluid was a little low but no leaks. I immediately changed the damper and it sounds 95% better. The 5% is a very slight fluttering sound which I normally associate with a tensioner/roller just starting to make noise. It’s very faint and most people wouldn’t even notice. I spun everything that the belt drives and there was maybe a tiny bit of lateral play on the roller but everything felt fine when rotating (plenty of experience with what bad tensioner/rollers feel like).
My question is, does the ABC pump make any noises like this in normal operation? This is my first car with ABC so I’m not sure if this is normal or not. As I was searching, I did see some people post about noisy roller/tensioners at my low mileage. I could change those and a new belt if these are likely culprits.
