Boot lid not closing properly - error appears

Hi,

I have a 2005 SL500, Australian compliance.

My boot lid is soft close. And recently it will sometimes not close properly.
I get the red error on the dash board, as well as the red light on the boot release on the drivers door.
I need to close it about 3 or 4 times before it shuts properly.
It looks to me like the soft close is not activating and sealing the boot closed.

Has anyone had this issue before and is there a fix or do I need a new boot closing mechanism.

You would do well to read the Sticky at the top of the page "Have Trunk & Soft Close Issues". There is a wealth of information for diagnosing and fixing the issue.
