How to add a spare wheel to a 2008 SL55 AMG

I recently purchased a spare tire for my 2008 SL55 AMG, shown below.

Will it fit in the compartment where the battery is located without any modifications or will I need to modify the area? Thanks!

I don't think there is any difference in the trunk on the SL55. You will have to remove the storage bin and replace it with a flat cover.

Have you thought what you will do with your removed wheel after using the space saver. It will just fit in the boot/Trunk, but not if you are carrying anything else in it!

SL55 Spare wheel

I bought one of those not long after I bought my SL55 13 years ago and suffered a tear in the sidewall that resulted in a tow truck ride home

MB Australia said it couldn't be done then quoted me $2000

I bought one from parts.com for about $500

It fits perfectly but you might need to buy some of the foam pieces and the plastic nut that secures the wheel

...And a way to get your passenger home when you put the punctured tyre in the front

Do you now how old that tire is? I can't read the month/year stamp on your photo. Vredestein (I asked them) says it should be replaced after ten years. I am thinking of leaving the tire out, in favour of some extra luggage space. Getting a new one is hideously expensive.
