In case you have lost or broken the Mercedes star emblem on you engine cover, I have found that 16mm wheel center caps are the perfect size for replacement. I found some sets of 4 on Amazon for around $20.

The star is attached by tabs that pass through to the back. By pinching off this tabs with pliers, I was able to easily detach the star. Alternatively, you can break off the tabs, sound the back down and attach the star and backplate as I have done.

I used the star & backplate because I had painted my engine cover because the silver was badly scratched and liked the look of the black background.
