SL/R230: Central warning button burned?
This is my second post here, totally newbie in this forum as well as in MB world.
I”m just starting to restore my new R230 (2005), lot of doubts right now, but I will do little by little.
The interior is in a very good shape, except the warning central button, apparently due to the exposure of the sun. Has anyone tried to clean up or even changed it?
thanks for reading and for your help.
apologies for my english mistakes, I try to do my best!
best regards
Eloi
I tried with rubbing alcohol diluted with water and now it looks cleaner but still feels sticky, is it normal? Perhaps the plastic cover of the button it”s burned by the solar light effect (and due to the age of the car)?
thanks!
Eloi
It's pretty magic stuff for cleaning off sticky residue. I seem to remember that mine was pretty gummed up and sticky like yours at the start, and after quite a bit of gentle rubbing with the euc oil, it's now revived and dry to the touch.
Easy to get in Australia of course but I don't know if such exotic fluids ever made their way north of the equator...
