Exterior mirrors do not close

Hi friends,

I”m almost new in this forum, I have a 2005 500SL and I realized that the exterior side mirrors do not close when closing the doors. I remember when I purchased the car a month ago that this operation was OK. If I push the button on the console it close the mirrors…So where is the problem?

thanks in advance

best regards

Eloi

Whether the mirrors fold in (not in US spec R230's) or not, is normally determined in the comfort menu that you manage with your steering wheel buttons.
If you have the after market Smarttop module installed it may add/distract to/from features like this, I don't remember if mirror folding is one of them.
To our American fellows (who seemingly are having to live without the gimmick: it doesn't do a spectacular car-narrowing job. But the folding for me is an audible confirmation of the car locking up (I pulled the fuse of the annoying alarm chirp).

Thanks a lot Frederick, my car has not the after market module, it”s an european version with everything original from the factory. I tried to close and open from the central button console (beside the gearbox), but nothing change. I will check on the menu, perhaps it was turned off when the aftersales service job 2 weeks ago?

have a good weekend!

I don't think your console button can be overridden by another onboard menu. The two fuses related to the folding mirrors, F09 and F41, affect so many other items that you would have noticed either of them being blown.
Seeing both mirrors refuse to fold, I guess you need SDS or perhaps a simple scanner, for basic trouble shooting.
