If you are looking to set up XENTRY on a laptop with a C4 multiplexor, you need a RJ-45 ethernet cable connection to your laptop. Since the ethernet port is going away on a lot of laptops, you can use the USB-C port with the RJ-45 adapter.
I now it's an old post but I started with this dilemma too and I was considering Star as well. From what I found is that up to 2020 ICarsoft would have been the way to go. But it is now 2024 and I went with YOUCANIC and so far I love it. Star is also good but I wanted to avoid the Chinese clones and the steep learning curve. The YOUCANIC is very nice and easy to use and has paid for itself already.
