My brother bought a SL550 at auction. It has an “oil temp” light lit on the dash according to the listing information. What might that be? I have not hear that there was a temperature sensor for the oil in theses cars.

The oil level sensor in V12 cars also measures temperature and I’m almost positive V8 cars are the same.

however I would bet the auction comment is erroneous and made by someone who didn’t know what they were talking about

I should have been more specific. It is an 07 SL550.
