SL/R230 Gap on the lower right hand side lower corner on the back window . Euro 2002 SL, R230

Gap on the lower right hand side lower corner on the back window . Euro 2002 SL, R230

I promised my friend that i would ask here about the the problem with a little gap on the rear window on his SL, R230

When the roof is fully cllosed on his European 2002 SL, R230 there is a gap in the lower rear corner on the right hand side on his SL, R230

The gap is about as big that you can put the end of a tool ruler thru the gap (See the picture attached)

Any here that have seen this before and know how to repair/fix this?

The gap is down towards the trunk lid on. You will have to enlarge the picture

Here is another picture where a red arrow is pointing towards the gap on the rear/back window

Looks like something is out of alignment maybe the car have been in an accident this is not Mercedes standard

I read that there there are several plastic shims for adjusting closing of the roof (where the roof locks in place) under each of the A pillar/post covers and womder if to many shims on 1 side can push the roof so the window get a gap?

If you look at the picture below the red line marks where the gap is the most on the rear window

The red lne marks where the gap shows the most

If like you say there’s an improper amount of shim on one side vs the other that must be because someone have been there before

You are probably right about that i think

My friend will have to adjust the upper and lower Y stops i think.

I did a lot of searchig on the net and found this PDF file (which i convered to paint) that show how to adjust the rear window on the SL, R230

Have you seen this before?

Checking adjustment of rear window on Vario roof, if necessary adjusting
