Brake pads and rotors

Hey All,
my mechanic insists that I should only get original Merc pads and rotors but I found the prices of aftermarket parts a lot cheaper, even from brand names like Brembo, Powerstop, Bosch and others.
my questions, do any of you use aftermarket rotors/pads? And what do you recommend? And issues of vibrations or squeaking?

just an example from partsgeek: https://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/20...ake_rotor.html

The Key is not aftermarket but OEM Parts rated OEM by the manufacturer of the Parts. In many cases make the parts for Mercedes. So the difference is the box is not Blue MB. For example you can buy Mercedes Motor Mounts or you can buy OEM Lemfroeder Motor Mounts. Yep they make them for Mercedes. Aftermarket called parts are inexpensive, made in china mostly and in some cases are just as good for the selected application. But you have to think first do I want a OEM rear seal or one at half the price? A web site PartsGeek.com will list the spec for a specific part and you can compare prices.

RDA brakes are a high quality medium priced replacement. I use them. Get them on eBay.

I very much doubt anyone other than the dealer would use MB genuine, unless the custy specified it.

My brakes are good right now but MAN do they ever dust up the wheels. I can only go a couple days before they are dirty again. I would love to get into something else that dusted a bit less. I don't know what kind they are, they were on the car when I bought it.

I agree with your mechanic. Brakes and Rotors have always been the one item where I always went genuine- no matter the car. Benz, BMW, Honda. I've had terrible luck with aftermarket. Centric, akebono, raybestos....

Geuine front pads are $90 and the rotors are $110 each (for my 2003 SL atleast)- and they are very easy to replace on this car. take SBC precaution

Go genuine and do it right and avoid all the crappy headaches with aftermarket (squeaking, premature warping etc)

My go to has always been FCPEuro and Autohauz
