Video input access on the back of facelifted COMMAND?

Experts, is there a way to access video input on the 2009 SL550 back of the COMMAND/radio unit without removing it? For a backup camera plug.

COMMAND removal seems cumbersome from watching videos, so perhaps there is a way to remove side or under dash panels and access it from behind without unit removal? Thanks !!!

Everything is so tightly packaged on this car I do not see a way around not removing the head unit to access the video input. I followed the advice on these forums and activated a rear view camera on my 2009 SL550. Most of the work was getting the wire from the rear to the Command head unit. I also found a few broken tabs that hold the Command unit in place so I epoxied those while I was a. It.

This procedure also requires some simple programming. Lastly, restart the head unit by pressing the On button for 10 seconds.

Thanks! BTW, how to add a front (and potentially sides) camera as well? In other words - how does the Command know when to display the image? Is it only a signal that the reverse is on?

There are simple switches with 4 inputs and one output (and trigger wires like reverse signal and side indicators) which can take 4 cameras and feed them into one video signal to Command. But how to make Command to display video without putting the car into reverse gear?

If the reverse is needed for display, how to fake that reverse signal to Command when the car is being driven forward?

thanks
