Question 2006 SL500 Keyless Go not working with one of my smart key fobs?

I have a 2006 SL500 (beautiful) and I am having an issue with one of my smart key fobs. The fob operates all the locks but when I press the start and go button on the gear shifter, the car will not start. I have to insert the key fob in the ignition switch. My other smart key fob allows all functions including the push button start and go. Does anybody have any insight as to what is going on or am I going to have to loose another leg at the Mercedes dealership. Please help.

If you don't have anything to diagnose it with, you are going to spend some $$ at the dealer. Has that fob ever worked for you? It is possible that someone had an extra key made and either got a non-keyless go key or they didn't get the new key track programmed in. You can also have the keyless go function of the fob fail, but everything else working fine. Either way, you are in for a couple hours of diagnostic/programming and maybe a $500 key. If it is not worth that to you, just use the good key and keep the 'bad' one as your emergency backup. A key with a dead battery will start your car (inserted), but won't lock/unlock it.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the fob did work before. I know at some point I had to change the batteries on both of the fobs, so not sure exactly when it stopped operating the keyless go function. My wife's fob works just fine. I just hate the fact of having to take the car to a local dealer. Anyway, thanks for trying to help.
