SL/R230: 05 SL500 audio gateway power drain question
I am new to the forum and a new MB 2005 Sl500 owner. I recently bought the car at a Mecum auction and have enjoyed driving it. Now I am starting to work out some of the issues I am finding and new to the MB technology. My current issue is a current draw when my audio gateway is connected and I have a .11 current draw on the system. If I disconnect the plug on the AGW which has a blue wire brown wire and red/white wire the draw goes away. I did note that even when disconnected and the electronics going to sleep I still read 10-11 volts between red/white wire and the other ones. Should I always have constant voltage to the gateway? Not sure if it’s the gateway or some other relay. The audio system was converted before I bought the car so fiber optic has been bypassed I believe since it is no longer connected to the head unit but still connected to the other devices in the system. New head unit is a pioneer 8200 if that helps. Any direction or links to wiring diagrams would be greatly appreciated.
If the fibre has been disconnected, and no longer in use, then why keep the audio gateway connected. It serves no purpose now.
With the head unit removed, then the MOST system is redundant. None of the other devices will work.
