new to here as an active user, but have been reading the forum for moths. Thinking about acquiring SL55AMG, originally produced for Japan. VIN details enclosed. As you can see, the car is definitely MY06/07 but on the photos from the seller I see the old styled COMAND unit and few other details that should look different - based on given MY. My question is, could it be due to Japan market? Is there a change that they have different setup compared to EU/US markets? Or does it rather look like the car is mix of various parts? The exterior looks like correct MY anyway - based on this video:
Most of the differences will be regulatory or based on country infrastructure (like cellular systems, radio bands, etc). I think that Japan R230's stayed with D2B for a few years after the rest of the world switched to the MOST system. That would have delayed the switch to Command NTG and would explain the old style console trim. Two tone interior is interesting. I don't think that was ever offered in the US.
