What is the adhesive used for panels

Anyone know what adhesive was used or a suggestion for a better alternative to re-adhere the mounting pieces back to panels. What they did use seems to be time bombed for about 18 years

Flex glue has some staying power. I tried some other adhesives that did not last long.

If the black plastic pieces have come adrift from the yellow glue then epoxy won't stick to ABS long term; it will tend to peel off.

Prime it first with cyanoacrylate (any type - like Crazy Glue or Loctite Super Bonder 409) then the epoxy will stick to that.

If there's a layer of glue on the plastic then try ordinary construction adhesive (Liquid Nails or similar). Or Gorilla Glue original, but the trick is to prime the ABS with cyano. Because of its oily, waxy feel cyano is the only thing that will really bond to it without peeling off.

Even though it's pretty old school Contact Cement is still used for interior parts in the auto and aircraft industries and works great for these applications. I use Weldwood brand but there may be others.

Rubbing alcohol is a good surface prep. I have also used wax and grease remover. Keep some of the old glue on to position old connectors precisely. Put enough Flex Glue on surface to squish through holes, and around fastener like the old glue did.
