On my 2005 SL500 the same parts on both sides are off. It seems that the hinges are very weak and prone to breaking. I could not see a simple way to fix the hinges so have just left those pieces off. One of the problems with aging plastic I guess.
I've also seen R230 owners get creative with small hinges that are usually used for jewelry boxes, small cabinets, etc., cutting them to fit and using epoxy to attach.

With the hinges on the flap itself still intact, I bought these (Amazon or directly from the German maker). Steel with brass tubing. Having the three hinges on one steel base assures perfect alignment, as opposed to mounting separate hinges. This set does not contain the metal rod and the spring. In stead of a spring you might consider using a wide rubber band but there isn't much space.

Mercedes does not sell that flap as a separate part - you'd have to buy the entire end/corner trim piece, and as I recall they're over $400.
Or you can get a basic flexible plastic hinge like this one and cut it yourself.

I hope you are well. Thanks for the tip. I am ready to buy this 3m hinge. What have you heard about the adhesion on our plastic? I have had good results with 3m double stick tape, bad results with 3m weatherstrip. Reviews are mixed on Amazon for this product.
Hey aegea, you might consider adding a line or several drops of Epoxy to the sticky part of the hinge. I have used jbweld epoxy with good results, may not come off after setting!

Sounds like a plan. The super glue variation by JB Weld looks super good. I ordered that and the flexible hinges-3M. It will be a while before I report back. This is for my daily driver. The 2004 SL500 AMG restoration is taking a long time... plus, rental property restoration, etc.
