PS/ABC fluid
My 2004 SL500 uses MB power steering fluid for the PS and CHF11 for the ABC. There is no documented history of a power steering pump or other power steering components ever being repaired or serviced. From what I’ve been told by my dealership, 2004 was possibly a transition year. Their older documentation shows PS fluid. But their current documentation shows CHF11. My owners manual seems to confirm that 2004 was a transition year. In my manual it specifies Mercedes Benz Power Steering fluid in one section and CHF11 in another section. The two fluids are not compatible with each other. My tech suggested that if I wanted to change to CHF11 to do so after a pump, hose or component repair and system flush. He said that as long as there’s no leak or component failure to leave it alone.

Always two reservoirs. Genuine MB fluid says for power steering and ABC (but at $90.00 a litre most will use Pentosin or Penrite LDAS)
