SL/R230: Seat Retraction 2008 SL550

Seat Retraction 2008 SL550
Car is new to me. On the drivers seat, if I push the button next to the headrest to move the seat forward, it will move all the way forward as it should, however, when I press the button for it to go back, it will move back for a second or two, then go forward again. If I use the memory seat button on the door, it will move back properly to the correct position.
The passenger side works correctly.
Is their any intelligence in the switch? Should I look to replace that or does any one ave any other ideas.

The intelligence is in the seat module. I'm not sure why it reverses, but my guess is that some adjustments are not properly normalized and it interprets end of travel as hitting an obstruction. Check seat module codes first and renormalize all 6 adjustments.
