Distronic speed modulation while engaged
Hi All, First post as I just bought a 2007 SL550, 37k miles. Southern California car, very clean.
Problem is that the Distronic/cruise control pulses/modulates (whatever you call it) when engaged. To describe further, when it is set on, with no traffic in front, it changes speed up and down from the set point by about 5 MPH for no apparent reason. It never holds steady for more than about 15 seconds and the change is not consistent. It acts like I am pushing the gas pedal, letting off, repeating randomly. With traffic ahead, it works well but never holds steady like other brands of cars I have driven. Any help would be very much appreciated! Thank you.

Distronic Devine intervention!
After driving my SL for a few months, I set out on a road trip of about 500 miles. Up until now, every time I used Distronic cruise control, it was surging with or without traffic in front of me (as reported in prior posts).
I was all prepared for the surge version, which still worked but was a little nauseating.
I flipped the lever up to set the cruise and Boom! It worked perfectly! For the entire trip! Since this is a low mileage car, I assume it has always been someone's second vehicle and probably was a Sunday driver. I am thinking that it did not get used much if at all. So, maybe something was a little sticky and worked itself out. At any rate, I am a grateful MB owner, thankful that this did not incur yet another trip to the mechanic!
