SL500
SOS Soft close trunk

2004 SL350
New latch
New ( refurbished ) PSE pump
New air line
No leaks
The pump is going for about 15-20 sec and dies after few sequences like there is an air leak , but there is none , even if I block the trunk output port , the pump is still running.
Everything else works.
Pressure is 30 PSI.

Any ideas ?

So it is pulling the trunk closed, but not shutting off? If that is the case, probably a bad pressure switch in the pump.

You say a new latch. Does that include the pneumatic part of the mechanism? That is often a point of failure.

Yes, but not readily available. The only source I am aware of is to salvage from another pump.

SL 350 R230 (3.7L with AMG Speedshift autobox)
You may have a leak elsewhere, so as well as checking the lines to your trunk actuator, check all of them. I had a kink in one of the yellow plastic hoses as the previous owner was careless with putting the pump back into the foam and had snagged a hose, that then put a hole in it. Check the output of each of the hose sockets to the pump, use soapy water or leak detecting to see if any bubbles show.
If you believe its your actuator, there are 10 areas that can leak, I have replaced 3 myself from salvage yards (very easy), you can also seal them up with good epoxy, the holes can be hard to find, so I created a detailed video that shows how to remove the actuator and repair that may help. Check the alignment to the mechanical lock is correct (shown in video). Also make sure you reset the fuse in the rear compartment (see video).

Lastly it could be the fins inside the rear of the motor as they can break, you can buy replacement ones and have a go at fixing.
If everything is working correctly, the pump will not come on everytime, only when air is needed and only very briefly, the soft close should only take 1 sec to pull close.
