2003 SL500 ABC control module pricing

Hi I have a 2003 MB SL500 R230

Shop says I need a new ABC control module

Price quote for part alone was like $1500-2000 USD

I found on eBay multiple ABC control modules for the R230 for less than $100. USD dollars

my question is, what did you pay for your ABC control module ? anybody buy the part off eBay for less than $100 ? how did that work out for you ?

thanks

Maybe give us a little more info. What problems were you having with the ABC? Can you provide a link to the part on eBay?

Good idea to investigate further. The control modules rarely fail. The ABC needs an experienced specialist who knows how to diagnose issues correctly.

There are many "moving parts" to the ABC system. I would say most problems are with the valve blocks that distribute hydraulic fluid to the shocks on each corner of the car. There are two valve blocks, front and rear, and two valves for each corner of the car. If the smallest of debris gets into the fluid, it can bet lodged in the seal of one of those valves and cause fluid to leak past the seal. This results in one or more corners of the car to drop after it sits a while. There are overhaul kits for the early valve blocks, which you probably have. They run about $50 on ebay and $75 on Amazon. There are YouTube videos on what to do.

You get the picture. This is not hard to do if you have the right tools, know-how, and willingness to do it.

Hi, thanks for the followup .. issue has been resolved.. I bought a ABC control module off eBay for less than 80 usd, had shop just swap out the old one for the bay one. Lesson learned, ABC module from MB was $1600 , saved 1500 by buying a used one off of eBay.
