Keyless Go Warning Chime
I just purchased (09/06/23) a 2007 SL550, and I have a question about the warning chime. Every time I open the door, the warning chime goes off, and I have been reading that this is usual for the "Keyless Go" system. What I don't understand and my question is this. When the warning chime goes off every time you open the door to get in or exit, how do you ever know that there might be something that the warning chime should be warning you about? Case in point. I was driving with my fog lights on. I parked my car, got out, and forgot to turn off the lights. Well, in any other car, the warning chime would go off, so I wouldn't leave the lights on and walk away, leaving the lights on until I returned to my car. But with that damn warning chime going off at will, I never knew I left the lights on until I returned to my car 24 hours later. Is there any way to fix this issue so the car will chime instead of constantly chiming if there is an actual warning?

Hey Gene, please provide the solution in DAS. I have tried things like non U.S. countries with no success.

I don't understand the reason behind this certain "Chime." If something needs your attention, that's when it should chime, and no other time. Gene, yes I understand when the lights are set to AUTO, I would not have had that problem. That morning, I wanted to use my fog lights only.

Yank it’s a German engineering thing. They took the USA only requirement to remind owners to take key. And didn’t think they needed to shut it off until the driver closes the door. Fix it on later models, my 2012 Sclass has one chime and dashboard message to take key.

2004 Sl500 Well you know now that I think about it the Chime reminds me to lock the car doors in the garage so it goes to sleep.

Ok, guess I'll let it go and worry more about replacing important items that need to be replaced in order to get my car ship shape......oh, and drain my bank account. Like I stated before. I should have gone the other direction with the 07-12 Toyota FJ Cruiser TRD version. But that's another story for another time.
