Can the COMAND screen be adjusted for vertical position, brightness and contast?

2005 SL500

I replaced the screen in my COMAND head unit with the following: LQ065T5AR01, and it is super bright and hard to read. Yes, I have adjusted brightness in both day and night mode to both extremes. It is only readable in Night mode. Also the image is low on the screen and needs to come up about 1/8" as the text at the bottom are cut off by the bezel. You cannot move the screen in any direction as the DVD slot frame prevents it from moving up to compensate. I noticed some adjustment pots on the back of the screen and one is for Horizontal position but that is good. What are the other ones marked with "VCO" and "VCDC:?

Has anyone tried adjusting their screens and if so can you provide any input on how to do it.

Yes, Yes and kind of.
Firstly if your screen is super bright than this is not normal, I would change out the screen as it should definitely not be too bright, normally the opposite as not bright enough, I have mine one step down from max brightness! Secondly the vertical adjustment is manual, when you remove the 13 screws at the back to replace the screen you can adjust the vertical position by about 8mm, then tighten up and it will keep this position.

As I stated before. I CANNOT MOVE THE SCREEN UP AT ALL! I tried that. It is already hitting the frame for the DVD slot. This is a NEW screen. Sorry for screaming. I subscribe to your Youtube channel and love your videos. I am not going to throw any more money at the COMAND unit. I will go aftermarket instead. I can perform test bench adjustments if I knew what to adjust. I just can't find any info on how to do it. There are three adjustment pots on the back.

problem is most likely your new display is not real. It could well be a chinese knock-off of the real LQ065T5AR01.
Over the years I have bought several displaysfrom Chinese sellers all pretending to be what they are not. All over scan, and hide the bottom part of the display. Some are dark others are brighter than they should be.
The 3 variables on the rear do nothing to change the size or positioning of the display but can improve clarity and definition.
Essentially you are likely to have a display that will never be an adequate replacement for the original - sorry about that!

Well I got the information for the replacement form this and other forums. Where do you suggest I get a "real" replacement from?

hey no worries I share your pain and want to help. So can you upload a photo so I can see the position and brightness?
P.s Where did you buy the screen and how much? Things like this are good from Amazon as their returns policy is great, however from eBay etc can be little tricky

I doubt you can other than from a used unit. These 'new' Sharp displays are mainly a single generic unit badged by the seller as the part number required by the buyer. Frequently the seller will show the correct unti in the dsales advert and deliver something mechanically/electrically different but showing the correct part number label. I have bouthe several replacement displays for NTG1 Head Units supposedly made by Sanyo or Toshiba and all, without exception have been Sharp displays, all identical but the badge. All work to some degree, but overscan and generally have too much blue content.
I can send you a full manual for the correct display if you wish (slightly different for each of the years 2001, 2003 & 2005)
